Q. What is a CME?
A. Continuing Medical Education (CME) refers to educational activities that serve to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance of healthcare professionals. CME is essential for medical professionals to stay current with the latest advancements in medicine, technology, and practice standards
Q. Is this program accredited to offer CME?
A. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of University of Washington School of Medicine and Immersive Explorations. The University of Washington School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Q. I am not a Physician, can I still get CME Credits?
NURSE PRACTITIONERS and REGISTERED NURSES
For the purpose of recertification, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board and American Nurses Credentialing Center accept AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME (Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education). We would also suggest that learners check with their state licensing board to ensure they accept reciprocity with AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for re-licensure.
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS
The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) states that AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ are acceptable for continuing medical education requirements for recertification. We would also suggest that learners check with their state licensing board to ensure they accept reciprocity with AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for re-licensure.
Q. How many credits will I earn?
A. The University of Washington School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
Q. Do I have to be present for every part of the program?
Yes, to qualify for Continuing Medical Education Credits, participants must be present for the entirety of the program. Attendance at all sessions ensures that you receive the full benefit of the educational experience and meet the necessary requirements for credit.

Nutrition: Educate on prioritizing food quality and creating balanced meal plans focused on unsaturated fats and nutrient-dense foods, while emphasizing the significance of food choices on overall health.
Physical Activity: Equip participants with strategies to motivate patients to engage in physical activity, demonstrating how increased activity levels can improve longevity and quality of life.
Social Fitness: Foster understanding of the role of social relationships in health outcomes, encouraging strategies to strengthen social networks for improved patient care and chronic disease management.
Stress Reduction: Develop skills to identify and manage psychosocial stress and its impact on heart disease, providing actionable strategies and experiential activities for stress management.

Q. Is this just a boondoggle?
A. We certainly hope for you to enjoy yourself in Italy (that’s a big part of the program’s point), but there are clear learning objectives for our program that went into our CME accreditation.
Travel FAQ
Q. What is included in the price of the program?
A. What's Included in the Program Cost: (PIEDMONT)
Course Design and Organization: Comprehensive planning and structuring of the course.
Educational Activities: Lessons, workshops, tastings, and hands-on activities led by UNISG professors and experts.
Facilities Access: Use of classrooms, laboratories, and UNISG facilities for various lessons and experiences.
Excursions: All visits and tastings at local producers and companies to enhance learning.
Tutoring Support: Guidance during lessons and visits to ensure a rich educational experience.
Transport: Bus hire for all visits to producers and airport transfers (1 transfer from the airport to Pollenzo on the first day and 1 return transfer on the last day).
Accommodation: 4 nights at Ascheri Hotel in Bra, with double rooms (separate beds) for all participants.
Meals: 4 lunches in Pollenzo or surrounding areas and 4 dinners in traditional osterias and restaurants in Bra, including a truffle hunting experience and winery tasting with lunch in Langhe, as well as a cooking class and market visit in Turin.
Q. Is airfare included in the price of the program?
A. No, airfare to and from Italy is not included.
Q. Are airport transfers included in the program?
You will need to get yourself to the hotel, but then bus transfers are available.
Q. Do you have recommendations on places to stay or eat before or after the program?

Q. Are partners encouraged to attend this trip?
Yes, partners are welcome to join the trip! However, they will need to pay the program fee and participate in all activities and experiences included in the program. All payments made in full by May 31, 2025 are eligible for a $2000/person Early Bird discount. Partners joining health professionals are eligible for a further $1000 discount.

Q. What are the program highlights for Piedmont?
A. We will send a daily itinerary upon registration into our program. But some of the activities include:
Sensory Analysis
Lessons and sensory tests aimed at providing basic theoretical knowledge of sensory analysis, as well as practicing sensory evaluation techniques
Food Psychology
A subject which seeks to understand, predict and improve the way people make decisions about what they eat, and aims to provide practical tools that can be adopted to help in the transition towards more sustainable diets and behaviours
Truffle Hunting Experience
In the heart of the famous White Truffle region, participants will have the opportunity to go on an authentic truffle hunting experience to discover the mysterious world of truffles. The hunt will be lead by a young truffle hunter who grew up to the smell of truffles and the passion for training her dogs and truffle hunting with them. The experience will take the group on a walk with her and her dog to search for black and white truffles in the beautiful woods of Roero. The group will then enjoy a tasting of traditional piemontese products paired with local truffles.

Blue Zones Immersion
Sardinians still hunt, fish and harvest the food they eat. They remain close with friends and family throughout their lives. They laugh and drink wine together.

Archaeological guided tour with a focus on the agro-pastoral system of the Nuragic culture: agriculture, pastoralism, breeding and bread making, the agricultural system based on the cultivation of cereals and legumes,“pintadera” and functional decoration in breads
Educational hands-on cooking lesson
We will explore various themes related to health and nutrition and learn about local produce, history and traditions
